APD- Noise-free CPAP power solution

【Medical Power Supply】Noise-free CPAP power solution

With the continued development of the medical industry, more and more people have begun to pay attention to their own health problems, such as the noisy problem of snoring. If you experience this symptom every night, a secondary symptom is lowered personal performance and sleepiness during the day. This can cause chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, nocturia , and arrhythmia over the long term. A CPAP (Continuous positive airway pressure)is the best way to solve the above problems.

However, when the CPAP solves the snoring problem, it often brings with it a secondary problem, operating noise, which can also affect the user’s sleep quality.

CPAP operating noise mainly comes from four sources:

  • Turbine noise
  • The sound of pressure from the pipeline flushing against the wall of the mask
  • The sound of the machine coming through the pipeline
  • Noise emitted by the power supply

Turbine Noise

There is a motor in the CPAP which drives the flow of air. A large part of the CPAP’s noise comes from this. At present, the noise of turbine motors is the main issue facing developers of CPAP. RESMED and PHILIPS RESPIRONICS have their own core turbine technology which silences excess turbine noise and most of their selected motors are German-made.

Mask airflow sound:

Masks are also a key noise source. Mask noise comes mainly from two sources:

  • The sound of airflow friction in the mask
  • The sound from the exhaust hole

The problem of friction sound in the mask is solved by the mask’s design. The design should allow the pressurized air flow from the pipe to smoothly flow to the tip of the mask. This pressure rapidly spreads into the mask along towards the nose. If the interior space of the mask is not designed properly, a sound will be heard immediately.

The same principle applies when dealing with the exhaled carbon dioxide, which should be quickly discharged out of the mask when exhaled. The size and arrangement of vents in each mask are all prone to causing noise if not designed properly.

Pipeline Noise

The noise generated by air flow is due to the transmission of air from a solid object directly to the human body. The air moves faster and its noise more apparent. The noise of the pipeline is mainly solved through the pipeline’s production process and the sound insulation of the pipeline. Generally speaking, top brand CPAP all pay great attention to improving pipeline noise.

Power Supply Noise

Additionally, a high quality, low noise power supply is also a key to overall noise reduction. Inside the power supply, there are inductors, transformers, ceramic capacitors, etc. These components usually vibrate due to the frequency of the audio signal in the circuit.

Asian Power Devices (APD) Provides Solutions with Low Noise, High Quality Medical Power Supplies

If the loop of the power supply is not adjusted well, bad transformer technology will become audible. APD’s power supply switch tech-manufacturing has been consistently working with mainstream CPAP manufacturers. There are strict control and testing methods in regards to noise, which when adhered to, can effectively reduce the noise level of the entire machine.

APD’s R & D 80W CPAP power adapter meets the lowest noise level requirement of 20dB, giving the user a better sleep experience. In addition, APD has a very rigorous and reliable quality verification system, as well as professional low-noise/non-echo rooms to ensure quality after mass production.
