【Medical power supply】APD meets the 2023 Chinese medical power supply national standard GB 9706.1-2020, the latest version

Chinese medical equipment market has quickly become the second-largest in the world. The capability of medical equipment manufacturing has been enhancing continuously. The National Medical Products Administration released GB 9706.1-2020 “Medical electrical equipment Part 1: Basic security and performance general requirements”. This standard will be enacted on May 1, 2023, replacing GB 9706.1-2007.

The new version of Chinese national standards such as GB 9706.1-2020 has adopted IEC 60601-1:2005+A1:2012 (ver.31). In the requirements of the new version of the standard, the electricity safety protection of the product has been changed significantly compared to the old version of standard. The new version mentioned Means of Patient Protection (MOPP) and Means of Operator Protection (MOOP). For temperature rise limit of the product, it even specifies the limit when the patient or operator comes in contact with the product. It also requires the fire protection requirement of internal and external material to change accordingly.

In the meantime, YY 9706.102—2021 2021 of medical EMC standard will be enforced on May 1, 2023, replacing the current YY0505—2012. YY9706.102-2021 is equivalent to adopting IEC 60601-1-2 :2007 3.0. Compared to the old standards, basic security requirements and basic EMC requirements for some medical electrical equipment (ME equipment) and medical electrical system (ME system) have been added.
